Sunday’s Coming 126

Thank you to everyone for an amazing blended service last Sunday, including the election of 4 new elders. We thank those four elders for standing.
This Sunday we have two services, 10:00 and 11:30, with the ordination and induction of elders at both services, and new members and Holy Communion at the 11:30. There is also lunch after the 11:30 service, to which everyone is welcome. Please bring your lawn chairs, since we will probably have the lunch outside.
Please remember the youth group which meets tonight, and Vacation Bible Camp which is coming up June 25-28.
Best wishes to all,

Moderator’s BBQ

Sunday’s Coming 125

This Sunday is one, blended service at 10:30 a.m.  We’ll look at the text from Acts where followers of Jesus are first called “Christians”.  Acts 11: 19-26.  During the service there is a BBQ for all the kids and teens in the Sunday faith programs.

After the service we meet for the Election of Elders.  Four candidates are on the ballot and there is a bulletin insert with information on each candidate.

Please remember in prayer the Klempa family, with the death of Lois this past Sunday.  A memorial service will be held June 8th at the Church of St. Andrew’s and St. Paul’s.

Please also remember the wedding of Michael and Christiania on Ile Bizard this Saturday afternoon.

Thanks to Danielle, it is now possible to register for VBC June 25-28 online.

Wishing everyone God’s presence and blessing this weekend.

See you Sunday.

Sunday’s Coming 124

This Sunday May 19th is Pentecost.  The Giving of the Holy Spirit.  We celebrate the Baptism of Megan C. at 10 a.m. (with Communion) and Faith Sharing by Andre P. at 11:30 a.m.  There is a nursery and kids faith program at both services.

Please remember the family of Peggy Douglas.  She lived 98 years (!) and her funeral is today in Verdun.

Please remember the Youth Group tonight, as they meet with other church youth groups for an epic game of Capture of the Flag and a program.

With all good wishes,

Sunday’s Coming 123

On this Christian Family Sunday we look at a story of grace from the Book of Acts, chapters 10 and 11.  There are two services, 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., with a kids faith program and nursery at both and a joint coffee time in between.

Below is prayer for your weekend by Richard Rolle (1290-1234).

Until Sunday,

the delightful taste of your love

is impossible to describe.

If I were wanting to speak about

your inexpressible joy, Lord Jesus,

I would seem to be trying to empty the sea

drop by drop,

and bit by bit to squeeze it

into a tiny hole hole in the sand.

Sunday’s Coming 122

This Sunday we’re on Acts 2: 42-47, which describes the kind of Christian community the first followers of Jesus formed.  Two services, 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m..  With Holy Communion and lunch at the 11:30.

It’s time to celebrate – Patti T. has an article published in this month’s edition of the Presbyterian Record!   If you don’t already have a subscription to the magazine, you can get one here:

Thank you to Marilyn S. and Spectrum Voices for their recent concert, the proceeds of which they have donated to continuing the good work here at Briarwood!  Photos are here.

On Friday night it’s Youth Group.

On Saturday morning is the Spring Clean Up, with a special activity around decorating the church for children.  Led by Danielle Pierre.  9 – 11:30 a.m.

See you Sunday, if not before!
